Grief Counselling in Orangeville
Available both virtually throughout Ontario and in person in Orangeville.
Navigating Grief and Loss Can Feel Overwhelming.
Grief is a natural response to loss, but that doesn't make it any less difficult. Whether you're grieving the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or another significant loss, the experience can bring sadness, anger, guilt, confusion, or a sense of disconnection.
Grief can affect individuals at any stage of life. We provide compassionate psychotherapy for children, teens, and adults navigating grief, bereavement, and loss. Whether grief is affecting relationships, school, work, or everyday functioning, our approach is tailored to each individual's experiences, needs, strengths, and circumstances.
What can I expect in grief counselling?
Psychotherapy provides a safe, supportive, and collaborative space to explore your experience of grief while developing strategies to navigate the emotional and practical challenges that can accompany loss.
Together, we will work to:
Explore and process the emotions associated with grief and loss
Better understand how grief is affecting your thoughts, relationships, and daily life
Develop healthy coping strategies for difficult emotions
Navigate feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, loneliness, or uncertainty
Adjust to changes in relationships, roles, and daily routines
Find ways to maintain meaningful connections and memories
Strengthen emotional resilience and self-compassion
Explore meaning, identity, and life following loss
The goal of grief counselling is not to eliminate grief or forget what has been lost. Rather, therapy focuses on helping you navigate your experience at your own pace while finding ways to move forward that honour your loss.
What is your approach to grief counselling?
We provide an individualized, compassionate, and collaborative approach to grief counselling, recognizing that everyone experiences loss differently.
Depending on your needs and goals, therapy may draw from approaches including:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Mindfulness-based interventions
Somatic and body-based approaches
Trauma-informed psychotherapy
Our approach focuses on creating space for your individual experience, supporting emotional processing, and developing coping strategies that may help you adjust to life following loss. We recognize that grief does not follow a predictable timeline, and therapy is tailored to your unique circumstances, values, and needs.
Movement & Exercise Psychotherapy™ for Grief & Loss
For some individuals, traditional psychotherapy is the best fit. For others, Movement & Exercise Psychotherapy™ (MEP™) may offer an alternative way of engaging in grief counselling.
MEP™ integrates psychotherapy with purposeful movement and exercise, allowing therapy to take place while walking, performing strength-based activities, or engaging in other forms of structured movement.
Grief can affect both emotional and physical well-being, sometimes contributing to fatigue, tension, restlessness, or difficulty concentrating. For some individuals, incorporating movement into psychotherapy may support emotional regulation, body awareness, and engagement while providing space to process difficult emotions.
Our approach recognizes that grief is deeply personal. Movement is incorporated collaboratively, based on each individual's needs, preferences, and readiness, without pressure to move through grief at a particular pace.
Every person's experience with grief is unique, which is why therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.
