Anxiety Therapy & Psychotherapy in Ontario
Living with Anxiety Can Feel Exhausting.
Everyone experiences anxiety from time to time. However, when anxiety becomes persistent, overwhelming, or begins interfering with daily life, it can leave you feeling stuck, exhausted, and disconnected from the things that matter most.
You may find yourself constantly worrying about the future, replaying conversations in your mind, feeling on edge, struggling to relax, experiencing panic attacks, or avoiding situations that make you anxious. Anxiety can also affect you physically through muscle tension, headaches, digestive issues, racing thoughts, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, disrupted sleep, or a constant feeling that something is wrong.
If this sounds familiar, you are not alone. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people seek psychotherapy, and effective treatment is available.
Anxiety affects everyone differently.
It may involve excessive worry, fear, or physical symptoms that begin interfering with everyday life. Some individuals experience generalized anxiety and constant overthinking, while others struggle with panic attacks, social anxiety, health anxiety, perfectionism, or anxiety related to work, school, or major life transitions.
Many people living with anxiety also experience burnout, self-criticism, people-pleasing, difficulty slowing their thoughts, or a constant need for reassurance.
Anxiety can affect both the mind and body. You may notice:
• Excessive worry or overthinking
• Racing thoughts
• Feeling restless or constantly "on edge"
• Difficulty concentrating
• Irritability
• Trouble sleeping
• Muscle tension
• Headaches
• Chest tightness or rapid heartbeat
• Stomach discomfort
• Panic attacks
• Avoidance of situations that trigger anxiety
Because anxiety often develops gradually, many people don't realize how much it has been affecting their daily life until it begins impacting relationships, work, school, or overall well-being.
Psychotherapy provides a safe, supportive, and collaborative space to better understand your anxiety while developing practical strategies to manage it more effectively.
Together, we will work to:
• Better understand the factors contributing to your anxiety
• Identify unhelpful thought patterns
• Develop healthier coping strategies
• Improve emotional regulation
• Reduce avoidance behaviours
• Build confidence in managing uncertainty
• Strengthen resilience during stressful situations
• Develop practical skills that can be applied in everyday life
The goal is not to eliminate anxiety completely. Rather, therapy focuses on helping you respond to anxiety differently so that it no longer controls your life.
Every person's experience with anxiety is unique, which is why therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.
We provide an individualized and collaborative approach to treatment, drawing from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, somatic and experiential, exposure-based strategies when appropriate, and humanistic approaches. Together, we will work to understand not only your symptoms but also the underlying patterns that contribute to anxiety while building practical skills that support lasting change. For some individuals, traditional psychotherapy is the best fit.
For others, Movement & Exercise Psychotherapy™ (MEP™) offers an innovative alternative.
MEP™ integrates psychotherapy with purposeful movement and exercise, allowing therapy to take place while walking, performing strength-based activities, or engaging in other forms of structured movement. Many individuals find that movement helps improve emotional regulation, reduce physiological stress, increase focus, and create a more natural therapeutic experience. This approach may be particularly helpful for individuals who naturally regulate emotions through movement, including some neurodivergent individuals, athletes, first responders, and those looking for an alternative to traditional office-based therapy.
Anxiety can affect individuals at any stage of life. We provide psychotherapy for children, teens, adults, and couples experiencing anxiety and related concerns. Whether anxiety is affecting school, work, relationships, parenting, athletic performance, or day-to-day functioning, treatment is tailored to each individual's developmental stage, strengths, goals, and unique circumstances.
Virtual psychotherapy allows you to access evidence-based mental health care from the comfort of your home or another private location. Online sessions are available to clients throughout Ontario and can be an excellent option for individuals with busy schedules, transportation barriers, health concerns, or those who simply prefer meeting virtually. In-person Movement & Exercise Psychotherapy™ (MEP™) sessions are available in Orangeville, Ontario.
